Reporting to a Project Manager, the Co-Op Project Coordinator will provide support in the successful execution of projects safely, on time and within the specified budget. They will assist with the day-to-day functions of a project, predominantly with the operations and scheduling of various on-site activities.

Responsibilities

  • Compile all required information and submit utility locate requests and keep utility locates valid, before work is scheduled
  • Prepare all necessary documentation per operation requirements for job packages for scheduling and mobilization purposes, inclusive of all required resources and coordinate the work internally and externally accordingly
  • Complete Site investigations in conjunction with working construction drawings to identify potential constructability issues, safety hazards or constraints prior scheduling the work
  • Ensure regular check in and reviews with foreman for job hand off and post follow up.
  • Complete Project Summary in its entirety upon new Contract Assignment - Read and understand Contract drawings, tenders and specifications as they apply to Powell’s scope for assigned projects
  • Completion of forecasting (short and long term) requirements to ensure proper resources are maintained
  • Attend site meetings with various stakeholders, as required
  • Assist with multiple projects of various sizes, concurrently.
  • Quality Control and identification of deficient workmanship or material where a non-conformance may be necessary to be submitted to the client per the MTO guidelines.
  • Prepare monthly PPC (Payment Certificate) of work performed - Track project progress daily using quantities for unit based and lump sum contracts
  • Submit requests for information, compensation and other documentation as required, providing quotations for any extra work requests or other areas of opportunities on existing projects.
  • Assisting Project Manager in the assessment of Claims Management & EOT – Provide compiled data/documentation to support PM’s strategic direction. Always notifying PM of onsite occurrences that seem unusual
  • Document Control - Ensuring job folder is up to date, copying and scanning documentation related to the contract. All mobilizations to be documented in the completed folder. Ensure all documents are consolidated and that most recent revisions are being utilized.
  • Other tasks as assigned and required

Qualifications

  • Previous construction experience is an asset
  • Previous work as a coordinator is an asset
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Ontario post-secondary degree or diploma program with a mandatory co-op placement, within construction management, civil engineering, or a similar field
  • Experience with MTO projects an asset
  • Demonstrated time management, scheduling, and negotiations skills
  • Strong communication skills and results oriented with a sense of urgency and effective problem-solving skills
  • Must be organized and flexible to changing business conditions and a fast-past work environment
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office) and knowledge of Jonas is an asset
  • Must have a clean driving record and a valid G driver’s license
  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset
