Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Communications and Marketing, the Communications Specialist will offer hands on support with media relations and contribute to the development and execution of communication strategies that promote our road safety products and services. They will manage messaging across the group of companies, ensuring consistency and alignment with our brand’s voice for both internal and external communications as well as continue to work closely and collaborate with various stakeholders within the company.

Responsibilities
  • Develop engaging photo, video, and written content for internal audiences. 
  • Write, edit, and produce content for newsletters, blog posts, social media, and the company website. 
  • Create product-focused content, case studies, and success stories that highlight expertise in construction and road safety. 
  • Manage the content and updates for the company intranet and oversee the distribution of the internal newsletter. 
  • Ensure consistency and alignment in messaging across multiple companies and brands. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align communication efforts with business objectives and brand voice. 
  • Facilitate cross-department communication to ensure clarity on key messages, campaigns, and initiatives. 
  • Work with the People and Culture team to support initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive, and connected workplace. 
  • Assist HR and leadership with crafting internal messaging aligned with company culture and values. 
  • Draft internal announcements, memos, and messages that inform, inspire, and engage employees. 
  • Support the Senior Manager of Communications and Marketing in managing media relations. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry media contacts, journalists, and trade publications. 
  • Assist in the drafting and distribution of press releases, media advisories, and pitch stories to promote company achievements, product launches, and community initiatives. 
  • Monitor public perception and manage the company’s reputation across online and offline channels. 
  • Assist with planning and execution of company events, trade shows, and outreach programs to promote road safety initiatives. 
  • Identify community involvement and partnership opportunities that align with brand values and mission. 
  • Create promotional materials for events, ensuring consistent messaging and branding across platforms. 
  • Track and analyze communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of internal and external campaigns. 
  • Adjust communication strategies as needed to optimize outcomes and meet business goals.
  • Assist, collaborate and support marketing initiatives as needed
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years in a hands-on communications role working in a highly collaborative environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism. College Diploma will be considered as well
  • Proven and verifiable ability to successfully work on both video and photography projects with the skillset to professionally edit and create
  • Strong passion for graphic design with a strong eye for visual aesthetics
  • Natural storyteller with the ability to craft engaging and compelling narratives through various mediums
  • Technical abilities to work hands on with Photoshop, Premier Pro along with exposure to Hootsuite and LinkedIn being a strong asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Creative, self-starter who thrives working within a team and collaborative environment
  • Confidence to provide new and innovative ideas and not afraid to offer insight and opinions with team members
  • Ability to pivot and change direction while maintaining a high-quality level of work
