Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety, the Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Health and Safety (H&S) team in carrying out OHS operations and maintaining the HSMS. This role involves daily administrative tasks, assisting advisors in conducting site inspections, facilitating onboarding and training for employees.

Responsibilities
  • Filing, data entry, and record management.
  • Prepare safety documentation, reports, and compliance records.
  • Organize and schedule safety meetings, training sessions, and audits.
  • Ensure that SiteDocs/Corfix is kept up to date (new workers added, certificates etc.) and that safety talks and alerts are circulated in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining Safety Matrix
  • Prequal requests
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including safety training and completion of necessary paperwork.
  • Assist in organizing and delivering safety training programs and workshops.
  • Maintain and update training records, ensuring certifications and qualifications are current.
  • Support the monitoring of compliance with company policies, local regulations, and industry standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of safety audits.
  • Help manage the incident reporting and investigation process, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
  • Perform routine inspections of job sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations in conjunction with the HS Advisor, or under the guidance of the Advisor.
  • Identify potential hazards and suggest corrective actions.
  • Document inspection findings and track resolution of identified issues.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Degree or Diploma in OH&S, Health Safety & Environmental Management, Safety Engineering, or a related field
  • Must be very organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated competence in arithmetic and both verbal and writing skills
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and meeting tight deadlines
  • Competence with office administration is required
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with health & safety software such as SiteDocs is an asset
  • Familiarity with COR is an asset
